Laser Therapy

Barry Road Animal Hospital was one of the first animal hospitals in the Northland to acquire the Companion Therapy Laser, a class IV laser therapy unit.

Laser therapy is a surgery free, drug free, non-invasive treatment to treat pain, reduce inflammation, and increase speed of healing.

Class IV deep tissue laser therapy uses a beam of laser light to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy induces a biological response in the cells called “photo-bio-modulation”, which leads to reduced pain, reduced inflammation, and increased healing speed.

The laser light is delivered through non-invasive hand piece to treat the affected area. Your pet will feel gentle and soothing warmth which is often calming. Most treatments last a matter of minutes. Laser therapy has been scientifically proven to be successful in treating post-surgical healing and pain, and many acute and chronic conditions such as wounds, inflammation, arthritis, back pain, ear infections, and hot spots.

Because treatment protocols are unique to each patient and condition, laser treatments will vary in time, complexity and cost. Laser therapy can also be used to enhance other treatment plans recommended by our veterinarians.
